The Impossible is a 2012 as-yet unreleased Spanish-produced, English-language film directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, starring Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor. A terrifying and emotional story based on one family's experience of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, The Impossible is a compelling account of perseverance and survival in the face of unimaginable disaster and chaos.

The film is a co-production between the Spanish companies Apaches Entertainment and Telecinco Cinema. The crew consists of the same key people who made The Orphanage, including the director, writer, production manager, cinematographer, composer and editor.[1] Filming started 23 August 2010 in Alicante, Spain, and continued in October in Thailand.[2][3]
Warner Bros. will release the film in Spain. The distribution rights for the United States were pre-bought by Summit Entertainment.[2] The movie will be release on October 11th, 2012 in Spain. A teaser trailer was released on December 26th, 2011. [2]
